Irish Swimmin' Shine at All-City Meet
The
Irish Swimmin Women had an outstanding showing at the All-city meet.
The Irish placed 2nd behind the host team BBCHS. The meet started
off with a second place finish in the 200 yard Medley Relay. The
relay of Moira Martin, Hayley Coash, Alexa Salkeld, and Sam Ochoa
finished with a time of 2:11.51. Hayley Coash led the way with two
1st place finishes in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:16.87 and
the 500 freestyle with a personal best time of 6:04.85. Alexa
Salkeld had a strong showing with a personal best time in the 200 IM
(2:41.32) and a 2nd place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of
1:12.89. Moria Martin had two 2nd place finishes in the 100 back
with a time of 1:14.02 and the 100 breast with a time of 1:28. 65.
Sam Ochoa received a personal best time in the 50 free with a time
of 31.14. Jorgi Phelps received a personal best time in the 100 free
with a time of 1:35.94. Rochelle Latta had a personal best time in
the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:43.06. Gina Franco also had a
strong showing in the 200 freestyle (2:35.68) and the 100 back
(1:28.47) both of which were personal best times. The 200 freestyle
relay of Ochoa, Franco, Phelps, and Latta finished with a personal
best time of 2:12.53. To conclude the meet the 400 freestyle relay
of Salkeld, Ochoa, Martin, and Coach finished 2nd place with a
personal best time of 4:34.17. Way to go ladies!! You did an awesome
job!! Keep on going strong!!
Irish Swimmin' Women Put up Fight
The
Irish "Swimmin" women put up a fight against the Kankakee Kays and
Joliet Hill Toppers Monday evening. McNamara came away with a second
place finish behind Kankakee. The Lady Irish placed 1st in 6 out of
11 events with 9 personal best times. Great job girls!!!

Irish Swimmin' Made A Splash At Lincoln-Way West
The
Irish Swimmin' Women made a splash Thursday night at Lincoln-Way
West High School. The night started with a1st place finish and a
pool record set by Hayley Coash in the 200 freestyle and a 2nd place
in the 500 free with a personal best time of 6:05.69. Alexa Salkeld
continued the Irish success with a 4th place finish and a personal
best time in the 200 IM of 2:41.87 and a 3rd place in the 10 fly
with a personal best time of 1:14.37. Sam Ochoa led the way in the
100 Free where she placed 5th in the 100 freestyle with a personal
best time of 1:10.27. Jorgi Phelps also had a personal best time in
the 100 freesytle with a time of 1:30.59. To conclude the meet the
400 freestyle relay of Alexa Salkeld, Moira Martin,Sam Ochoa and
Hayley Coash finished with a 4th place and personal best time of
4:36.29. Rochelle Latta and Moira Martin also added to the Irish
Success. Way to go Ladies!! Keep up the good work!!!
Girls Swim Season Begins on High Note
The Irish Varsity Girls Swim Team started off their season competing in the Bremen Pentathlon Tuesday ,August 31st. Overall the Irish Swimming Women came in 4th competing against Marist, Marion Catholic, University High School and Bremen. There were many top finishers as well as several girls who achieved personal best times. Top 10 finishers were sophomore Hayley Coash who placed 5th in 200 freestyle,4th in the 100 backstroke,9th in the 100 butterfly and 3rd in the 100 breast stroke which earned her a bronze medal. Hayley also earned a 5th place individual finish overall. Alexa Salkeld placed 10th in the 100 backstroke and 8th in the 100 butterfly, Moira Martin placed 10th in the 100 breaststroke. Personal best times were achieved by Sam Ochoa, Gina Franco, Hayley Coash and Alexa Salkeld. Jorgi Phelps also showed a strong effort that contributed to the Irish success. Great Job Ladies!!!
